Meet the Visinionary
Dr Zaheda Khanam (Independent Artist and Art Curator) is an artist by nature, with creativity flowing through her from an early age. She received most of her education in Varanasi, earning her BA and BEd degrees from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Later, she pursued her Master’s in Fine Arts from Aligarh Muslim University and went on to complete her PhD from BHU under the guidance of Prof. T.K. Biswas. Coming from a family of educators, she was greatly influenced by her parents, especially her mother, Hamida Khanam, who founded Modern Education Junior High School in Varanasi.
As a painter, Dr. Zahida uses her art to express her dissatisfaction with the social issues she observes around her. Her style is symbolic and impactful, focusing on the essence of her message without unnecessary details.
She favours muted tones that subtly enhance the depth of her work. Over the years, her art has been showcased at many prestigious institutions across Uttar Pradesh, earning her numerous awards and recognition.
Her passion for art is closely tied to her commitment to education. Dr. Khanam firmly believes that empowering children—especially those from underprivileged backgrounds—through education and creativity is key to building a better future.
